CLASS OF YOUR OWN LAUNCH OCTOBER HALF TERM CLUB IN THE FLEET STREET QUARTER
EMPOWERING KIDS TO BUILD A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE
21 OCTOBER - 1 NOVEMBER · 9AM - 5PM · THE FLEOT, GREEN SKILLS HUB
From 21 October-1 November, Fleet Street Quarter will be host to social enterprise Class of Your Own’s October half term Out of School Club for children and young people aged 9-14 at The Fleot, Green Skills Hub. This fun learning programme aims to inspire young minds to build a greener world through real-life experience.
Running from 9am to 5pm and located at 10 New Bridge Street, ‘Class of Your Own’ half term summer clubs are part of The Fleot a pioneering green and digital construction skills hub delivered by Community Coworking and a consortium of partner organisations.
This unique autumn half term experience is an exciting opportunity for children to learn about Built Environment careers and help the environment while gaining valuable skills. It’s never been more important when the construction industry contributes to about a third of the world’s overall waste and at least 40% of global carbon dioxide emissions.
Children will learn how to design, engineer and construct extraordinary net-zero buildings, ranging from homes to hospitality to healthcare. There’s even a ‘Centre for Our Planet’ (The COP), to teach young people about climate change. Participants will sketch, build, gain insights from professionals in the field and receive a certificate on completion.
The week-long course costs £120 [£25 a day plus fees] the school is the perfect opportunity for aspiring architecture, engineering and construction professionals. There are only 20 spaces available each week on a first-come, first-served basis.
Closest tube and train station is Blackfriars, which is served by Thameslink trains, the District and Circle Underground lines. The Fleot is a five-minute walk from the station on New Bridge Street.
