TEAMING UP WITH THE CITY OF LONDON POLICE TO COMBAT PHONE THEFTS
MORE THAN 420 PHONES AND VALUABLES MARKED TO HELP RECOVER STOLEN ITEMS

At the beginning of March, Fleet Street Quarter joined forces with the City of London Police at New Street Square to launch their new phone marking initiative, tackling phone snatches.
Throughout the morning and early afternoon, a dedicated team made up of uniformed police officers, our ambassador team, Al Fadiga and Saud Ahmad, and Safe and Secure Manager, Beth Nash, engaged with the public, providing support and information around theft and other local crime concerns, applying more than 420 kits to phones and other valuables.
Whilst we can't completely eliminate the risk of phone theft, we will continue to empower others to be safe and secure with their belongings while in the City of London. According to information from City of London Police, hundreds of devices a year are recovered from criminals, but many are unable to be returned due to a lack of identification or ownership. By offering a marking phones, individuals can vastly improve the likelihood of having their valuable items returned if they’re ever stolen.
As this was the first instalment of the phone marking series, City of London Police are keen to partner with local businesses to deliver this service in-house across the City, expanding their reach. If you are interested in hosting a phone-marking event within your business, please get in touch with Safe and Secure Manager, Beth Nash (beth.nash@fleetstreetquarter.co.uk) for further information
