SPORT HISTORY OF FLEET STREET TOUR
WRAPPING UP THE SUMMER OF SPORT IN THE QUARTER WITH A TOUR FROM DAVID HARRY
Tuesday 3 September, 12:00PM - 1:00PM • Meet outside Punch Tavern, Fleet Street
To celebrate the beginning of the 2024 Paralympic Games next week and the summer of sport in the Quarter as a whole, tour guide extraordinaire David Harry will be back on Fleet Street leading a tour exploring the sporting history of our world-famous street.
Discover the roots of the English Football League and the St Bride Vase, which is to this day awarded to world champion table tennis players. You’ll also discover how one of the greatest batsmen in the history of cricket had a sport shop on Fleet Street, and how a table tennis ball inspired one of the most revered poems in Irish literature.
