Culture Mile and Fleet Street Quarter BID are proud to announce our first joint Winter Vigilance Week, a series of events designed to support staff wellbeing, personal safety, and organisational resilience as the darker months approach. Running from Tuesday 28th October to Wednesday 5th November, the programme offers a mix of in-person and online sessions to help employees feel informed, empowered, and prepared for the season ahead.
TUESDAY 28TH OCTOBER
PERSONAL SAFETY CLASSES WITH KB FITNESS

Winter Vigilance Week kicks off with dynamic KB Corporate Self Defence classes, tailored to enhance staff wellbeing, confidence, and teamwork. Led by highly qualified instructors, these sessions combine practical safety advice with easy-to-learn physical techniques, giving participants a sense of empowerment both inside and outside the workplace.
“This training isn’t about fear—it’s about being sensible, aware, and prepared,” says KB Fitness. “By investing in self-defence, organisations demonstrate a genuine commitment to employee safety and mental wellbeing.”
Please note: Tuesday 4th November is an outside session, encouraging all attendees to claim their sense of safety in a public space with like minded individuals. Free refreshments and hot drinks will be available to all attendees.
THURSDAY 30TH OCTOBER
Situational Awareness & Personal Safety Talk with Simon Riley, CIS • 12:30PM – 1:30PM • 3 NEW STREET SQUARE • BOOK HERE
Leading security expert Simon Riley, CIS’s Hostile Threat SME, will deliver a fascinating session on how to take positive control of your personal safety. Drawing on both CIS expertise and UK Governmental learning, Riley will share real-world criminal tactics and practical situational awareness techniques to help attendees recognise, avoid, and report suspicious activity.

WEDNESDAY 5TH NOVEMBER
City of London Police & Barclays present: Scams and Fraud Awareness Webinar • 12:00PM – 1:00PM • ONLINE VIA MICROSOFT TEAMS • BOOK HERE
The week continues with a lunch and learn webinar in partnership with City of London Police and Barclays, focusing on fraud and cybercrime prevention ahead of the busy festive shopping season. Attendees will learn how to report incidents through the Action Fraud portal, respond to live cyberattacks, and implement preventative measures to keep their organisations safe.
Topics will include:
How to report fraud and cybercrime effectively
Responding to live cyberattacks and data breaches
Understanding what happens after a report is made
Support available from police and partners
The most common threats facing SMEs and how to counter them
With scams and cybercrime spiking around Black Friday and Christmas, this session equips businesses to stay one step ahead of criminals.

Winter Vigilance Week will conclude with a special Walk and Talk Evening hosted in partnership with City BIDs and City of London Police. This interactive session will give participants the chance to engage directly with officers and community representatives while walking through key city locations.
A free personal safety toolkit will be provided to each participant.
This targeted week of events offers a valuable opportunity for staff to gain practical skills, build confidence, and strengthen community safety. Whether through self-defence, situational awareness, or cybersecurity training, the programme ensures everyone is better prepared for the season.
