A NEW LANDMARK FOR THE FLEET STREET QUARTER

THE CITY OF LONDON CORPORATION APPROVES EXTENSION OF WHISPERS INSTALLATION

The City of London Corporation has granted the planning approval for Oskar Zięta’s Whispers sculpture, marking another cultural milestone for the historic Quarter.

Fleet Street Quarter Business Improvement District (BID) are delighted to share that planning approval has officially been granted for ‘Whispers’ the sculptural installation by internationally renowned artist Oskar Zięta. This striking sculpture was first unveiled during the 2025 London Festival of Architecture. Delivered in partnership with the Polish Cultural Institute, Let’s Art Foundation, and On&On Designs, and forming part of the UK/Poland Season 2025, Whispers has been proudly hosted outside One New Ludgate since its arrival last May.

Zięta’s work celebrates dialogue and human connection, embodying the spirit of openness and shared experience that has long defined this storied and historic part of the city. The incredible design invites people to gather, reflect and engage.

“Whether spoken softly, in hushed tones, or even in whispers, sitting together in a circle, we can break down barriers and connect meaningfully. Our aspiration is for Londoners to join us in breathing life into ‘Whispers’ ”  - Oskar Zięta

This approval ensures that Whispers can remain in place for the long term, acknowledging its role in enriching the culture atmosphere on Fleet Street Quarter. We extend our sincere thanks to the City of London for supporting a project that brings fresh creativity, vibrancy and character to the district.

Fleet Street Quarter continues its evolution into a dynamic cultural destination, Whispers stands as a testament to our long-term commitment to arts, creativity and community. From our partnership with Sadler’s Wells to the performances, installations and activations animating our streets, the Quarter is embracing a future shaped by imagination and shared experience. Together, these initiatives are helping to put the Fleet Street Quarter firmly back on the map.
