WRAPPING UP THE MAGIC
A LOOK BACK AT FESTIVE FLEET STREET QUARTER 2023
Anyone who has passed through Fleet Street Quarter over the last month will hopefully have been swept into a moment (or two!) of seasonal merriment as part of the Festive Fleet Street Quarter programme. We have been delighted to host a variety of events across the now festively illuminated, Snowman-filled Quarter in partnership with our magnificent local business community.
A hive of creative activity has been in full swing with a combination of Jar & Fern’s wreath making workshops, Christmas card crafting with Bella Gomez and the return of our Maker’s Market at New Street Square – each championing the homemade and unique. We have also been toasting the season with expert-led gin making workshops at The City of London Distillery and exquisite wine tastings at Lazy Ballerina’s Bar.
For those who have needed a break among these fervent festive activities, KERB+ Fleet Place have been delivering delicious Winter Warmers at Thursday’s Street Food market and we have had a much-needed professional gift-wrapping service delivered by Jane Means team (don’t miss their final session on Tuesday 12th December).
Amidst these events, our 12 Snowman sculptures celebrating the 12 Days of Christmas, have been leading the way under a glow of festive lights. Nestled in streets such as Chancery Lane, Ludgate Hill and Carter Lane, these reimagined public artworks, based on the original book by the late Raymond Briggs, have been visited by hundreds already - and we hope many more over the holidays ahead, before they head off in January. (If you are yet to spot all 12…take a look at the trail map here!)
Throughout the weeks we have also been treated to beautiful sounds from some of London’s finest choirs, bringing the seasonal atmosphere with carols around the tree. Crucially, warming mulled wine, hot chocolates and mince pies have kindly been delivered by Pickwick Coffee, Barcelona Tapas and Lucky Voice, just when they were needed most.
This year we have also introduced Safety Week as part of the festive line-up, with a series of focused events designed for local workers to equip themselves with essential security and well-being skills. The week comprised of Security Awareness Training with The Cyber Resilience Centre alongside Walk & Talks with City of London Police and a Welfare and Vulnerability Engagement Training. As we deliver further safety and security sessions in the new year, keep an eye on our website to sign up and get involved.
Thank you to everyone involved in making Festive Fleet Street Quarter quite so memorable this year – we look forward to welcoming you all in 2024 to more events celebrating the very best of this vibrant area.
