EXPERIENCE THE SPECTACULAR MIDDLE TEMPLE HALL
By kind permission of the Treasurer, Lady Justice Thirlwall, the Middle Temple will play host to this incredible evening.
Built between 1562 and 1573 the main buildings have remained virtually unchanged to this day. It is probable that Queen Elizabeth I gave permission for the Hall to be built as she was the Inn's landlord. The first recorded production of Twelfth Night took place in the Middle Temple Hall in February 1602, at the Candlemas Feast, not long after it was written by William Shakespeare.
The Hall’s superb, detailed architecture, impressive oak panelling and beautiful stained glass create a breathtaking and majestic atmosphere – a truly spectacular setting.
Directed by Adrian Dunbar, with score by Nick Roth, the Unreal Cities staging of T.S. Eliot’s poem The Waste Land is arranged for four actors, and jazz quintet. The piece was commissioned by the Happy Days Enniskillen International Beckett Festival 2015 with the permission of the T. S. Eliot Estate, becoming the only performance of the poem in its 100-year history to include musical accompaniment.
