DKMS STEM CELL REGISTER SWABBING POP-UP

JOIN THE STEM CELL REGISTER AND SAVE LIVES

Tuesday 16th June 12pm-2pm

On Tuesday 16 June 12pm - 2pm, the Fleet Street Quarter will host a DKMS pop-up swabbing event at Fleet Place, as part of our ongoing commitment to supporting community wellbeing and raising awareness of critical health issues.

Timed to mark World Sickle Cell Day on Friday 19 June, the event will focus on increasing awareness of blood disorders and the urgent need for more people to join the stem cell donor register.

One of the key elements of the pop-up is the opportunity to take a simple cheek swab — a quick, three-minute process that could help save a life. Stem cell transplants are often the only treatment option for people diagnosed with blood cancer and related conditions, yet only 3% of the UK population is currently registered as a donor.

There is a particularly urgent need to increase the diversity of the register. Patients from ethnic minority backgrounds face significantly lower chances of finding a suitable match, making community engagement and participation more important.

Here’s how to get involved:

·       Visit Fleet Place between 12pm and 2pm during the event dates

·       Take a quick cheek swab to join the stem cell register

·       Spread the word among colleagues and networks

We are also inviting volunteers to support the event. Volunteers will help welcome participants, encourage sign-ups and assist with the swabbing process. If you are interested in getting involved and contributing to a meaningful cause, register your interest now using the code FSQ2026.

Join us at Fleet Place to learn more, take part and support an initiative that could give someone a second chance at life.
